Great tip Mark. Traffic increases and followers are good, the only downside is who you might attract with a competition. If it works for you and your target audience - great! But be wary of attracting traffic for traffic's sake which evaporates once the competition is done. Either way - slick tool. @TelecomGuru

How do you target the contest to get the followers you want and need rather than 1,000's who only want to win a free prize?

It sounds plausable. This is the second time the contest approach has been suggested to me. It looks like this method is becoming very popular for building your customer base.

My thought is this? How do I secure the best qualified responses to the contest. By that I mean real potential community members/customers. Is it by creating a contest prize that is specific to my audience? Other methods. Love to hear what you think. Thanks a jillion.

A contest is definitely a "must try" - - I have used it with my column as a Home and Living Examiner (National) where a home product vendor that I interview offers a free sample, it does draw in readers.
