Is Twitter a Waste of Time?

I am wondering how everyone else feels about this. It seems like almost everyone I know either loves Twitter or thinks it is a waste of time.

From what I could understand coming from a guru-marketing-point of view is that there is an even more efficient program to keep up with all your friends tweets and twits because of some special tools. For me it takes to much time. This platform is already time consuming, but very easy to keep an overview. So how succesfull is twitter to you?

Of course it's a waste of time. Right now you could be, or should be doing something else.
People in so-called civilized countries are champions of wasting time. How much time and
money is devoted to entertainment. Right now you could be building a better mousetrap
or exploring the cosmos. Instead you're glued to this one eyed demon which is nothing
more than an interactive television where you can produce you own private show.
And just think all your time and effort can vanish in a blink. Then what will you do to entertain
yourself. Social Network? Nobody really has 243 friends in this world. It's just a way to isolate
yourself from real people.
